Liu Qiyuan (1884-1962), member of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Lanscape and Forestry, was famous for his beautiful 'Qiyuan chrysanthemum garden'. His passion and talent for creating new species of chrysanthemums were highly praised by his admirers including important politicians such as Zhu De (1886-1976). This album was offered to Dr. Bussière by Liu Qiyuan as a gift to thank him for the poem he wrote after visiting the garden in 1953.
