With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1991 and its subsequent sale on 29 November 1991.

Reference 3945/1 was in production from 1985 until 1998, and is a variant of the celebrated reference 3940. Whereas the case of reference 3940 features lugs in order to add a detachable leather or gold bracelet, reference 3945/1 was exclusively made with integral gold bracelet.

As its peer, reference 3945/1 was produced in two series, distinguished by the leap year display: the first series with sunk leap year dial and the second showing a crossed leap year.
