KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The bowl has deep, rounded sides that rise to a slightly everted rim, and is covered inside and out with a glaze shading from pale celadon to copper red of crushed strawberry red tone. The copper-red glaze pools in the bottom of the interior.

Lot Essay

The present example is from a rare group of similar copper-red glazed bowls either with the Kangxi or Yongzheng reign marks, such as the pair of Kangxi-marked bowls sold at Christie's New York, 13 September 2012, lot 1544. A single Yongzheng-marked bowl from the Harry Payne Bingham Collection was sold at Christie's New York, 19 September 2013, lot 1364.
