A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF JIGONG
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The monk is carved with his right leg raised resting on a double gourd, right hand raised pacifying a crouching dog, and left hand holding a flywhisk. He is wearing a loose robe, a soft cap, and a plantain-leaf fan tucked in his belt at the back. The jade is of an even white tone with the fan picked out in russet inclusions.

A certificate from the The Gem & Pearl Laboratory Limited, London, confirms the present lot is nephrite jade (certificate no. 09379).
