Lot Essay

Henry Dasson (d.1896), the celebrated and prolific Parisian bronzier and ébéniste, specialized in the production of Ancien Régime style furniture and objects. This charming jewelry cabinet is based on a design by Jean-Henri Riesener from circa 1775, very similar to the one sold Christie's, Monaco, 17 June 2000, lot 363. Another 19th century example of the same model is illustrated in C. Payne, European Furniture of the 19th Century, Woodbridge, 2013, p. 216.
