The three-quarter galleried top above a cupboard with caned panels between tapering reeded pilasters, above a hinged flap and drawer, with leather-lined treads, on ring-turned tapering legs

Lot Essay

The set of bedside cabinet steps are most likely to have been executed by Gillows of London and Lancaster, the design following almost exactly the 'Night table' pattern dated 1799 (L. Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, pl. 101).
