TABLEAU HISTORIQUE DE LA GUERRE DES DEUX ROSES, in French, MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER [18th-century]
234 x 188mm. 370 leaves, contemporary foliation. Manuscript account of the Wars of the Roses, text unknown. Original English red morocco gilt with accomplished tooling (worn at corners and spine). Provenance: HRH PRINCESS SOPHIA (1777-1848): bookplate.; HENRY, 7TH BARON FARNHAM (1799–1868): bookplate.; A.H. BRIGHT: bookplate and letter laid in from a family member, Clara S. Thompson, recording its gift.
This previously unrecorded, fair-copy historical account in an elegant hand – originating from the library of Princess Sophia, daughter of George III – likely represents a copy taken from a printed text in French or, perhaps, English.
