A compilation of mystical prophecies on the popes, with related texts, the best known of which are the Vaticinia de Summis Pontificibus spuriously attributed to Joachim de Flora (here copied from a Venice edition of 1589), and the Prophecy of the Popes likewise attributed to Saint Malachy; further sources cited including Johannes Abas, Fr. Egidius Pollonus, Ludovicus Palmarius, Francescus de Paula, Teodorus of Cremona, ‘a certain Capuchin’, Matheus of Calabria, and others, some simply noted as ‘Incerti’. The last named pope is Urban VIII, suggesting a date between 1623 and 1644.
