4° (207 x 146mm). (Browning to title and several quires, F1 with paper fault.) Contemporary flexible vellum gilt, sides with the arms of Emilio Bonaventura Altieri (1590-1676) as Pope Clement X within an all-over gilt baroque frame, gilt spine compartments, red edges (hole in bottom compartment, a few tiny chips on covers). FIRST EDITION, BOUND FOR THE DEDICATEE, CLEMENT X, with shelf-mark 'H.e.6' at end.

(Some browning, lacking 6 unnumbered end leaves?) Contemporary red morocco, sides with the arms of Giovanni Battista Pamphili (1574-1655) as Pope Innocent X within an all-over gilt baroque frame, flat spine with repeated rosettes bordered by fillets and a roll-tool of small fleurons, gilt edges (spine wormed at head and more so at foot).
