Lot Essay

A painter, illustrator, decorator and designer of stained glass, Hallward studied at the Slade, the Royal College of Art and South Kensington Schools. Influenced by Burne-Jones, he exhibited at the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society and the Grosvenor Gallery. (See lot 165 for another example by Hallward.)
