Lot Essay

Huang Jishui was born in Wuxian county, Suzhou . A precocious child, he worked for Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) at an early age. Later, he studied calligraphy under Zhu Yunming (1460-1526) and Wang Chong (1494-1533), following the style of Tang Dynasty calligrapher Yu Shinan (558-638).
