Guan Nianci, born in Suzhou, was especially fond of the flowers and bamboo of Hengshan mountain. He worked with books and was a painter, specializing in imitations of the Song-Yuan style. Painting landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, he was at ease working in a more ancient, traditional style.
