LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Each boy is shown standing on a pedestal base and wears sash-tied pants, a torque hung with a ruyi-shaped pendant, bangles around his wrists and ankles, and has a hollow, rectangular basket strapped to his back.
12¼ and 11¾ in. (31 and 30 cm.) high
Provenance
Anna Ilsley Ball Kneeland (1865-1955), New York, acquired 1918-1931, and thence by descent within the family.
