The sides are decorated with three oval panels, each decorated in famille rose enamels; one with two pairs of geese amidst a blue rock, peonies and grasses; one with a pair of swallows perched on a crabapple branch; and one with a flowering prunus tree, all on a coral ground decorated in gilding with decorative medallions between borders of upright leaf tips below and ruyi heads above, while a band of key fret is on the flat rim. A four-character hall mark, Jurentang zhi (Made for the Hall of Benevolence), is written in iron red within a slightly recessed white square in the center of the turquoise-enameled base.
