A HUANGHUALI 'THREE FRIENDS' BRUSH REST
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The brush rest is unusually carved in openwork as an upright section of bamboo rising from a horizontal tree trunk carved around the sides with blossoming branches of prunus and branches of pine needles, all representing the 'Three Friends of Winter'.
