A FINELY EMBELLISHED HUANGHUALI BRUSH POT
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical brush pot is finely inlaid on one side in mother-of-pearl and various hardstones with two butterflies fluttering above a flowering orchid and lingzhi growing amidst rocks. The reverse is inlaid in silver wire with a poem describing the scene, preceded by a circular seal, Zhu, and followed by an oval seal, wenwan (plaything).
