A PAIR OF A CARVED RED LACQUER VASES, MEIPING
18TH-19TH CENTURY
Each vase is intricately carved with four cartouches enclosing scenes of figures in various settings, between the Eight Buddhist Emblems, (bajixiang) below, and a band of flowers on the shoulder, all reserved on a diaper ground. Each has a cylindrical metal liner.
