A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
POSSIBLY IMPERIAL, ATTRIBUTED TO THE PALACE WORKSHOPS, BEIJING, 1740-1800
The well-hollowed bottle is finely carved with rows of overlapping lotus petals, finely incised to simulate veining. The translucent stone is of pale white tone with russet inclusions.
2 in. (5 cm.) high, plastic stopper with glass finial
Provenance
John Paul Rappolt (1913-2003), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and thence by descent to the present owner.
