A SMALL PALE GREYISH-GREEN AND RUSSET JADE FIGURE OF AN ELEPHANT
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The stocky, caparisoned elephant is shown with a boy sprawled on its back atop a fringed blanket decorated with a dragon rising from waves on one side and waves breaking against a rock on the other. There is an area of dark grey color, some areas of russet color and russet-brown veins in the stone.
