NORTH WEST INDIA, CIRCA 16TH CENTURY
The first possibly an account of the life of the Jain monk Kalakacharya, with opaque pigments, gold and ink on paper, the horizontal folio with 7ll. of large black devanagari script, various lines in smaller script around, with three almond-shaped gold medallions, the illustration with a deity riding an elephant, in red frame, mounted, framed and glazed; the second an illustrated folio in black ink on red ground, a couple seated on a low chair, a female musician before them, attendants behind, identified at top, mounted, framed and glazed
4 ½ x 10 ¼in. (11.5 x 26cm.) and 6 3/8 x 11 1/8in. (16.3 x 28.3cm.)
