FIVE AFGHAN MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID FLINTLOCK GUNS (JEZAILS)
AFGHANISTAN AND MOROCCO, 19TH CENTURY
Comprising four jezails of typical form, the smooth bore barrel secured to the fore stock with brass barrel bands, the butts inlaid with palmettes or geometric patterns and bands of lightly serrated and incised mother of pearl panels, one with lock mechanism stamped 1808 1 ; and a long flintlock gun with inlaid dot patterns and ivory geometric forms within an applied nielloed silver scrolling decoration, the lock plate engraved with floriated scrolls, the but inlaid with ivory plates
