A BELLE ÉPOQUE NATURAL PEARL AND DIAMOND PENDANT
Suspending a drop-shaped natural pearl, measuring approximately 10.78 x 9.49 mm, to the old European and single-cut diamond line, mounted in platinum, circa 1910
With report 2165435461 dated 1 August 2014 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the pearl is a natural saltwater pearl, with no indications of treatment
Provenance
Daughter of the banker, J.P. Morgan, Anne Tracy Morgan (1873-1952) became a significant philanthropist in the twentieth century. Raised in the same artistic, intellectual, charitable and social circles in New York and Paris as the sculptor Malvina Cornell Hoffman (1885-1966), the two women became intimate friends during the First World War when they were active in the ambulance corps. Together they would contribute enormously to Franco-American relations on a variety of fronts for much of the twentieth century.

This pendant was bequeathed to Malvina Hoffman by Anne Morgan at her death and hence by descent to the current owner.
