GASTON, Alfred J. Bibliography of Cricket. Brighton: printed for private circulation by D.B. Friend, 1895. 8° (213 x 140mm). Cricket vignettes on title and preface leaf. (Title slightly soiled, limitation number faded.) Contemporary brown morocco, front cover lettered in gilt, gilt board edges, blue marbled endpapers, original wrappers reprising the title vignette bound in (spine worn, front wrapper a little soiled).
FIRST SEPARATELY PUBLISHED EDITION OF THE FIRST BIBLIOGRAPHY OF CRICKET. No. 11 of 25 copies. Not signed, but with the author’s signature laid down on limitation leaf. Gaston’s bibliography had originally appeared in Wisden in 1892 and 1893. Allen 142; Taylor p.1 and 48; Goldman p.29; Padwick 18.
