Original green cloth gilt (extremities rubbed and faded, small stains on back cover). Provenance: Guy Curry (in his sale at Christie’s, 4 May 2006, lot 230). FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. ‘Cricket players’ are described on pp. 87-89 and a wood-engraving illustrates the game. The book first appeared in a small 16mo. version in London, 1846. cf.
