FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION ‘OF A RARE SPANISH CLASSIC ON THE CHASE’ (Schwerdt). Mateos, King Philip IV’s crossbowman, recounts his lifetime experience as hunter ('Yo escribo solamente lo que he hecho, lo que he visto y lo que he visto hacer'). Divided into 71 chapters, his work describes the methods of hunting the boar (including pigsticking), the buck and wolves.
