Les Extases Exitée par l’amour dédiée aux amants du Siècle. [N.p.: n.p., c. 1828.]
Small oblong octavo (100 x 153 mm). 11 hand-coloured stipple engravings including the engraved title, this perhaps the original front wrapper, each with engraved title captions, on wove paper. (Light scattered spotting.) Later red straight-grained morocco, spine in compartments and lettered in gilt, covers with gilt roll-tooled borders, edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Provenance: Hans Döpp (stamps on plate versos).
VERY RARE: WorldCat locates no copy in any institution; AE and ABPC record none at auction. These humorous engravings in a Romantic style were very popular in this period, and inspired or were reproduced in several collections of prints with different titles, and with or without verse captions. Dutel A-384 (this copy).
