Facsimile manuscript frontispiece, full page illustration after a drawing attributed to Modigliani, one plate of a tarot card, and five hand-coloured engraved plates by Jean Lurcat laid-in. (Some offsetting from the tarot plate onto facing leaves.) Contemporary pink moiré silk, original lilac wrappers bound-in, red morocco label on the spine, white moiré-style endpapers, ivory vellum-style chemise and slipcase (binding with light wear and light soiling, light wear to chemise and slipcase).
FIRST EDITION. ‘ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE 20TH-CENTURY EROTIC TEXTS’ (Dutel), with five hand-coloured engravings by Jean Lurcat (1892-1966). Lurcat, Jablonski and Bucher had collaborated before the war on a periodical titled Les Feuilles de Mai; Jeanne Bucher had also published Lurcat’s early works, including Baroques in 1925. WorldCat locates copies only at the British Library and at the Bibliothèque nationale de France. One of 112 copies only, this one number 48. Dutel 2335; Pia Enfer, 1277.
