Two volumes in one, duodecimo (130 x 82 mm). Pagination: vol. 1: 139 pages including the half-title; vol. 2: 144 pages including the half-title. 10 hand-coloured lithographed plates, including two frontispieces, by Achille Devéria. (Spotting, occasional light soiling.) Contemporary green half leather, flat spine tooled in gilt and blind, gilt label (neatly rebacked, boards repaired). Provenance: Gérard Nordmann (label; sold, Christie’s Paris, 14-15 December 2006, lot 371).
WITH ATTRACTIVE HAND-COLOURED LITHOGRAPHS BY DEVERIA. The Nordmann copy. Complete with the final leaf, a catalogue of ‘livres érotiques rares et curieux’. Rare: WorldCat lists just two copies: one at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and another, lacking one plate, at the British Library; AE and ABPC record only two other copies: the Milton Luros copy, which lacked 3 plates (Parke-Bernet, 27 April 1971, lot 162), and the Aboussouan copy (Sotheby’s, 19 June 1993, lot 644).
