With upright lion handles, finely painted to one side with grapes and peaches or plums, within a foliate gilt surround, the reverse with scrolls entwined with flowering vine, on a fixed stand with paw feet

Lot Essay

Frederick H. Chivers came to the Coalport factory in 1906 following a period at Worcester. He was 'called up' during the first World War but returned to the factory from 1920-1926. See Michael Messenger, Coalport 1795-1926, Suffolk, 1995, p. 383.
