ALEXANDER III – An album presented to Tsar Alexander III by Kaiser Wilhelm II, c.1890s. Oblong 2º (320 x 400mm). 23 albumen prints (c.150 x c.215mm) window-mounted in green card ruled in gilt. Contemporary morocco by W. Collin of Berlin with his stamp, the upper board centred with the Royal arms of Prussia in brass within a shaped recess lined with red velvet, brass scrolling corner pieces inset with brass royal crowns within roundels lined with red velvet, the lower board with brass bosses and corner pieces, red watered-silk linings with wide and richly gilt doublures, gilt edges (the front joint split but the board held by the hinge, some wear to the spine, surface leather crackling and with some spotting, clasp detached but present). Provenance: Kaiser Wilhelm II (binding) – Alexander III (book label of Anichkov Palace) – A La Vieille Russie.
