Each partly fluted oval pedestal foot with foliate shell borders, acanthus leaf side handles, the cover with detachable double acanthus scroll handle, each side engraved with coat-of-arms, the cover with crest, marked below rim, inside cover and on detachable handle
9 ¼ in. (23.3 cm.) long, over handles
169 oz. 14 dwt. (5,277 gr.)
The arms are those of Beaumont almost certainly for Colonel Thomas Richard Beaumont M.P. (1758-1829) of Hexham Abbey, Northumberland.

Lot Essay

Paul Storr provided a large quantity plate for Colonel Beaumont M.P. (1758-1829), such as a pair of bread baskets of 1819 and a pair of butter dishes of 1809, sold Christie’s, London, 8 July 1992, lots 124 and 130.
