Each shaped oval and with gadrooned border, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked underneath
17 ¼ in. (43.8 cm.) wide
91 oz. 12 dwt. (2,849 gr.)
The arms are those of Turton, probably for Sir Thomas Turton of Starborough Castle, Surrey. Sir Thomas Turton was raised to the peerage in 1796. He purchased Starborough Castle near Lingfield in 1793. He made improvements to the house including a 'good dining room' in which these dishes may have been used.
