The rounded bowl is covered inside and out with an unctuous blue glaze stopping at the foot rim. The interior and exterior are accentuated with a swirled purple splash.

Lot Essay

A similar bowl of the same size can be found in the collection of the British Museum, no. 1932,0616.1, which was donated by notable Asian art dealer Tomita Kumasaku (1872-1953).
