The dark grey stone is worked into a horizontal form with irregularly shaped peaks and a richly textured surface. The reverse is inscribed with an archaistic script and a four-character seal mark, Qingyige cang.

Lot Essay

The Qingyige is the name of the library belonging to Zhang Tingji (1768-1848), a Qing dynasty epigraphist, calligrapher and collector. The Qingyige collection was known for its extensive collection on books, antiques, paintings and calligraphy.
