A CLOISONNE ENAMEL 'LOTUS' TRIPOD CENSER AND GILT-METAL COVER
QIANLONG INCISED SIX-CHARACTER MARK ABOVE AN INVENTORY MARK HUANG AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The globular sides of the vessel are elaborately decorated in colourful enamels to depict open-form lotus flowers surrounded by leafy scrolls and other smaller flowers, below a pair of upright handles to the shoulder. The flat base is decorated with further leafy scrolls, with a gilt rectangular strip incised with the reign mark above a single character, huang. The gilt-bronze cover is reticulated with six dragons chasing flaming pearls above crashing waves, with the finial surmounted by a seventh dragon.
