Lot Essay

Dr. Ilja Veldman, whom we thank for her help in cataloguing this lot, attributes the engraving to Isaac Duchemin (d. circa 1590 in Cologne) and compares it to the artist's portrait of Jan van der Noort (Hollstein 6; I. Veldman, Un cabinet particulier. Les estampes de la Collection Frits Lugt, Paris, 2010, no. 21).
