A CASED FACTORY ENGRAVED .30 (RIMFIRE) 'SHARPS' PATENT' FOUR-BARRELLED PEPPERBOX DERINGER
TIPPING & LAWDEN, BIRMINGHAM, SERIAL NO. 5146, CIRCA 1862
With 3 in. (7.7 cm.) blued engraved barrel-block with stippled panel on each side, nickel-plated brass frame profusely engraved with scrollwork, case-hardened hammer with rotating hammer-nose, and gutta percha decorated in relief with foliage, retaining much original finish throughout, Birmingham proof marks, in original mahogany case lined with blue baize, the lid with burr veneer and large white metal shield-shaped escutcheon
