The centre of the painting depicts Buddha Amitabha seated in his Western Paradise, with both hands holding the alms-bowl. He is flanked by Bhaisajyaguru holding a bowl and myrobalan to one side and Buddha Shakyamuni with his right hand in bhumisparshamudra to the other side. All three are surrounded by many different Buddhas, protective deities and lamas.
