João Romão Teixeira (1864-1933) was a descendant from one of the captains that sailed alongside Zarco when Madeira was discovered. He was considered a prominent producer of wine in Lugar de Baixo (Southwest coast of the Island). His collection contained some highly esteemed private reserve wines.
