Silvano José de Freitas Branco was the 2nd Viscount of Porto da Cruz, located on the North East of the island. Son of the 1st Viscount of Porto da Cruz, Alfredo António de Castro Teles de Meneses de Vaconcelos de Bettencourt de Freitas Branco ( 1890 – 1962 ).
He belonged to a prestigious Madeira family, very influential in the 19th century, and was a close friend of the grandfather of the current owner.
