Lot Essay

Carl Ernest Bock (1809-1874), an anatomist at Leipzig University, and Franz Josef Steger collaborated to create models of the human anatomy, some even cast from life, to be used as teaching aids but now much admired as works of art. Steger sold many models through international catalogues and scientific shops in Germany.
