Lot Essay

Jirí Šetlík has confirmed the authenticity of this work.

According to Dr Jirí Šetlík, Otto Gutfreund originally made this sculpture after the dog of his friend Emil Filla. In 1928, it was produced in a limited edition of approx. 30 by the Prague arts collective S.V.U. Manes to commemorate Gutfreund's death and given to his friends.
