Two similar variegated white terracotta oviform vases
Palmer (Hanley), each with twin female mask handles suspending swags of hush ornament enclosing oval medallions moulded with groups of classical figures, one reverse with a boss moulded with a stylised flowerhead, the other with a profile bust, possibly Athena suspended from bands of leaves, the lower section with beaded bands, below stepped necks decorated with leaf and beaded ornament above spreading circular feet, the ground sponged in blue, gilt -- 9½in. (24cm.) high, late 18th century
