During the last two decades of his life, at the same time that Lü Shoukun was painting abstracted words, he also made highly detailed landscape paintings, such as this, that were either based on famous paintings by past masters or depicted local vistas, especially in Hong Kong or Taiwan.  In the former category, some paintings were faithful copies of landmark works, while others were original compositions inspired by early masters.
