A PAIR OF PAINTED GREY POTTERY FIGURES OF HORSES AND RIDERS
CHINA, HAN DYNASTY (206 BC-AD 220)
Each horse shown standing foursquare facing forward with mouth open and decorated with painted trappings, each separate rider made to sit astride the horse and with sockets within the ends of the sleeves of his tunic for the insertion of hands, all detailed in dark red, orangey red and black pigments
