Each dish depicting two ducks beside a lotus pond and various plants and rocks, with a further duck in flight above the pond, within a lingzhi fungus scrolling border to the rim

Lot Essay

Sir John Figgess was an Ambassador to Japan, holding various diplomatic posts during his distinguished career. Being an authority on Asian ceramics he then joined Christie's in 1973, and later became the President of the Oriental Ceramic Society from 1987 to 1990.
