A khanjar attributed to 18th century Afsharid Iran in the Military Museum in Tehran has a white jade hilt that is related to that of the present dagger (Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani, Arms and Armor from Iran, The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period, Tubigen, 2006, cat.212 and cat.217 , p.582 and p.584). However the closest comparable example, attributed to the late 18th century, is published by Robert Hales in Islamic and oriental Arms and Armour, London, 2013, cat.179, p.82.
