AN EGYPTIAN TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF ITHYPHALLIC HARPOCRATES

The young god depicted nude, with a large phallus, seated on a draped throne, wearing the nemes headdress surmounted by a hemhem-crown, with his left arm held by his side, his right arm raised up in blessing, a frieze of uraei above, a circular vent hole at the back

Recognised in Roman times as a bringer of fertility and child of the resurrected Osiris, Harpocrates was often represented with a disproportionately large phallus, representing the renewal of life.
