QING CHINA, 18TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper, 25 juz' from the same Qur'an, each with approximately 52ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 5ll. of black sini with gold rosette verse markers, sura headings in red and gold, text panel set inside red rules, the opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illumination framing text, Chinese seal stamps, two juz' from a different Qur'an of similar period with illumination at the beginning and the end of the section, a further two juz' from a third Qur'an series probably slightly earlier in date, with elegant gold and polychrome geometric illumination at the beginning and end, and a single juz' section from a fourth Qur'an also with illumination at the beginning and end and with larger size calligraphy, all sections in Chinese tooled brown morocco decorated with geometric patterns
