OTTOMAN PROVINCES, DATED 16 MARCH 1707
Of rectangular form with flat hinged lid, the surface decorated in repoussé, the front with a border of floral scrolls surrounding a rectangular gilt panel with a depiction of St. George flanked by two further saints, all identified in banners above in Greek, further flowering scrolls around them, the edges with panels of arabesque issuing from the corners, three tassels suspended below and chains in front, further chains for hanging attached to each side, the reverse with Greek inscription including date
4¼ x 6¾ x 1 1/8in. (11.2 x 14.8 x 2.7cm.)
